Reasons to give
Find out more about why K-State Libraries need your support and what funding areas are a priority now:
Collections
Collections align with and support college and university research and teaching priorities. They are often built through donations from generous K-State alumni and friends. Our unique research collections at K-State include cookery, the consumer movement, military history, biosecurity and food safety, grain science and milling, prairie studies and children’s literature. Funding for collections sustains our mission to support ongoing and emerging fields of research while preserving the scholarship of the past. In addition to acquiring these collections, we promote and preserve our unique resources and make them available to the world through digitization projects.
Facilities
Hale Library underwent a renovation more than a decade ago, primarily through the generosity of private gifts. We must continuously upgrade and redesign our facilities so that they are flexible and functional for current and future generations. We are also committed to preserving the libraries’ heritage through the renovation of the historic Farrell Library. Improvement priorities and naming opportunities include restoration of the Farrell Library Great Room, expanded exhibit space, collaborative study and work spaces for students and high-tech instructional facilities.
Other Opportunities
Financial support for other 21st century initiatives will enhance the libraries’ capacity now and in years to come. Opportunities include position endowments, support for digital initiatives, and research scholarships. Established funds include the Professional Development Fund that provides resources for library faculty and staff to attend conferences, workshops and other activities, and the Library Opportunity Fund, a discretionary fund to support facilities improvements and other needs. Your support will ensure that K-State Libraries continue to meet the needs of students, faculty and the community.
