Finney County Catbackers and Garden City K-State Alumni Club, Garden City, Kan. have made a gift to Kansas State University to establish the Shalee Lehning Women’s Basketball Scholarship. The two organizations welcome donations from any interested parties.

Norman Spielman, Chicago, Ill., has made a commitment of $175,000 to the Historic Farrell Library at Kansas State University to establish the Historic Farrell Library Preservation Fund.

Lynn Y. S. Lin, Cincinnati, Ohio, has made a gift and commitment totaling $100,000 to the College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University to establish the Dr. Lynn Ying-Shiang Lin Statistics Graduate Research Scholarship.

James E. Urban, Ledbetter, Texas, and his late wife, Dianne, made a gift of land valued at $95,000 to Kansas State University that will be used for the Konza Prairie Biological Station in the Division of Biology at K-State.

David and Ann Braun, St. Paul, Minn., have made a commitment of $35,000 to the College of Engineering at Kansas State University to establish the David and Virginia Braun Innovation Award.

On June 11, 2008, a tornado hit several cities in northeast Kansas, and caused major damage to Kansas State University’s main campus in Manhattan, Kan. The response from K-State’s alumni and friends, and its loyal corporate partners, helped speed up repairs before last fall’s semester began.

Dan Kuester, assistant professor of economics and Roger Trenary Chair in Economics, was awarded the 2009 William E. Stamey Teaching Excellence Award for his outstanding instruction in the Department of Economics at Kansas State University.

Jan Bechtold, Laguna Hills, Calif., has made a commitment of $680,000 through a bequest to Kansas State University to establish the Jan C. Bechtold Football Scholarship and the Jan C. Bechtold Men’s Basketball Scholarship.
