Wichita man commits $600,000 for K-State Alumni Association

George McCandless, Wichita, Kan., has made a commitment of $600,000 through a bequest to the KSU Foundation to support the K-State Alumni Association. Of the $600,000 gift, $25,000 from a charitable IRA rollover will be used to establish the George and Ann McCandless Wichita Alumni Club Scholarship Fund.

Hale family commits $126,500 to K-State Libraries (Overland Park, Kan., interest)

Deanna (Parry) and Edward Markley, Shawnee, Kan., have made a commitment of $100,000 to the Kansas State University Foundation to establish the Deanna (Parry) and Edward Markley Pre-Physical Therapy Scholarship and the Edward and Deanna (Parry) Markley Scholarship.

Harris and Cantrell elected chairman, vice chairman of KSU Foundation Executive Committee (Kansas interest for Leawood, Topeka, Wichita, Beloit and Hutchinson)

Lee Harris, Leawood, Kan., was recently elected to a two-year term as chairman of the Kansas State University Foundation Executive Committee. The executive committee of the KSU Foundation is the policy-making arm of the KSU Foundation Board of Trustees, the governing body of the foundation.

K-State Proud student campaign surpasses goal with help of Cox Communications

With a lead gift from Cox Communications, Wichita, Kan., K-State Proud — a student philanthropic campaign at Kansas State University — recently surpassed its 2008 goal, raising $93,590 for K-State students. Campaign Honorary Chair and men’s basketball Head Coach Frank Martin announced this year’s results during pregame ceremonies at the Wildcats’ Feb. 25 Big Monday game.

Doug and Tina Glover, Mission Viejo, Calif., have made a commitment of $1.25 million through a bequest to Kansas State University. This gift represents a portion of the Glovers’ estate; the remainder is being gifted to family and other charitable organizations.

Telefund raises $1.3 million in pledges
