Keith and the late Marian MullChanging Lives by: providing a life insurance policy to the university. The proceeds benefit the Friends of the Beach Museum Art Fund, Agriculture Dean’s Discretionary Account, Biosecurity Enhancement Fund, Friends of the Library Fund, Keith and Marian Mull Scholarship and 4-H youth programs.
K-State connection: Longtime K-State supporters, the Mulls’ two children and three of their five grandchildren are K-State graduates.
Why they gave: “We had a lot of good times, did a lot of cruising all over the world, but we decided that we needed to do something with some of our assets,” Keith said. “We were at the point in life where we really didn’t need to accumulate a lot of wealth.
Why it matters: “At this point in history, the university — and the educational system in general — relies more on the private sector than they have in the past, and we wanted to be a part of it,” Keith said.
Encouraging others: “The young people who receive scholarships today should remember that, when they become established, they too should share their good fortune with the next generation,” Marian said before her death in 2005. “I’m so happy that we have been able to make these gifts. I guess we’ve just become a K-State family!”
