Reasons to give

Facility Upgrades

McCain Auditorium’s seating capacity makes it possible to present world-class events to a degree that would be impossible at other nearby venues. However, the technical specifications of McCain are not adequate to host the latest in large-scale and complex productions. This presents challenges that are not able to be addressed by the state budget, so private philanthropic support is crucial.

The stage, backstage, storage and office areas are in need of improvements, and outdated equipment requires repair and replacement. Lobby size and restroom facilities are inadequate for the facility’s crowd capacity, which poses considerable safety and other concerns. Furthermore, a multipurpose room could help with hosting small-scale events and performances, pre- and post-performance receptions, multidisciplinary workshops, lectures and other outreach activities.

Staff Support

McCain Auditorium is fortunate to have a very dedicated staff, committed to the pursuit of programming excellence. We are, however, lacking in staff support that is typical of a major public research university. Current staff offices and salaries are not up to par, and more staff is needed in critical areas of community outreach, marketing, development, and technical and clerical support.

Program Development

McCain Auditorium is constantly seeking to expand its education and outreach footprint. Our goal is to partner with university faculty and K-12 educators to fund live arts programming that will enhance classroom activities and expand and promote discourse among campus and community members.

Funds are also needed to continue bringing artists and attractions to our campus and community that not only entertain, but challenge and promote creative and critical thinking necessary to improve the human experience. Artists of this level cannot be obtained with ticket sales alone. Funding must come from outside sources.
