Reasons to give

Find out more about why the College of Human Ecology needs your support and what funding areas are a priority now:

Facilities

The College of Human Ecology is supported by five primary facilities — Justin Hall, Mary and Carl Ice Hall, Hoeflin Stone House Early Childhood Education Center and the C.Q. and Georgia Chandler Institute for Child and Family Studies, and the Campus Creek Complex.

Justin Hall features high-tech classrooms that support teaching and learning, a student advising center that improves our student support and development services, a home for the Institute of Personal Financial Planning and the Center on Aging, and space for innovative and collaborative work. Mary and Carl Ice Hall provides laboratory space for the college’s larger-scale research projects and houses the Sensory Analysis Center. Opportunities are still available to help support and sustain our college facilities long-term.

Student Support

In a time when almost 80 percent of K-State students are eligible for financial aid, the College of Human Ecology currently awards scholarships to fewer than 20 percent of our students each year.

By establishing a scholarship with the College of Human Ecology, you will invest in the education of current and future students. Your support will encourage our students, like generations of students before them, to share a commitment to improving the lives of the people they will serve.

Faculty Support

When salaries or state resources are not adequate to recruit and retain the best faculty members for our college, private gifts make competitive compensation possible. Faculty enhancement awards — recognition for outstanding work, support of scholarly and teaching needs, opportunities for personal development — entice great faculty to come to the college and devote their careers to developing our students.

Emerging Needs

The areas of greatest need in the college change from year to year. By making gifts to support excellence funds, donors can assure that the College of Human Ecology will have the financial adaptability required to meet emerging educational imperatives and to assure that the programs of the college retain their significance and relevance over time.
