FAQs: Receipts and reports

Will I receive a tax receipt for my gift?

We have moved to e-mail receipting for most gifts. Read more about e-receipting.

When will I receive my tax receipt?

Normally the receipt is sent within a week of your gift’s arrival at the KSU Foundation. Gifts under $250 will only be receipted if we have your e-mail address. If you mailed your gift to a campus department or other non-foundation office, it will take longer depending on when the KSU Foundation receives it from that department. Also, during busier times, processing can take longer based on volume received.

In addition, you can view and download gift information using our website. You can access individual receipts or create a summary report of your giving. Click here to get started.

If you have questions concerning tax receipting, contact gift processing at 800-432-1578.

Why does my tax receipt have a benefits received section and what does it mean?

According to IRS regulations (IRS Pub 526), if you receive a benefit as a result of making a contribution to a qualified organization, you can only deduct the amount of your contribution that is more than the value of the benefit you receive.

Why didn’t I get a tax receipt for my registration fee for an event I attended?

The registration fee may have simply covered the cost of the event. If you pay more than fair market value to a qualified organization for an event, the amount you pay that is more than the value of the event can be a charitable contribution. You must also pay the difference with the intent to make a charitable contribution. If you have questions about tax receipting, contact gift processing at 800-432-1578.

How do my donations affect my eligibility for football and basketball tickets?

The only donation that will affect eligibility for football and basketball tickets are those made to the Ahearn Fund or the Ernie Barrett Endowment Society. Please refer to kstatesports.com for more information. Please refer to IRS Pub 526 for special regulations affecting athletic donations.

How can I find out my total giving to K-State?

You may contact the stewardship department at 800-432-1578 or e-mail giving@found.ksu.edu.

Will I get a report on how my money is being used?

Endowed fund donors or contacts receive an annual report showing how the fund has been used, the balance of the fund, and any growth the fund has experienced. Scholarship fund donors or contacts also receive annual or semi-annual reports of payments to recipients. We will also prepare reports on an as-needed basis. Please contact the stewardship department at 800-432-1578 to request a report.

Who can I contact if I have additional questions?
