TITLE: Lead Systems Analyst – Business Intelligence

SUPERVISOR: Director of Information Technology

DESCRIPTION: The Lead Systems Analyst – Business Intelligence role is to lead efforts in the creation and evolution of all components of the Business Intelligence reporting environment including architecture, planning, design, ETL, report building, data extract tools and appropriate security integration. The position must foster relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels and consistently deliver quality client services, driving high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Responsible for monitoring progress, managing risk and ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Full-time exempt position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the mission of the KSU Foundation as it relates to the educational, research and service goals of the University with the ability to communicate the institution’s needs and priorities — both internally and externally.

2. Establishes and nurtures effective, collegial working relationships with foundation coworkers, university partners, and donors.

3. Promotes and demonstrates respect, collaboration, and friendly customer service in all working relationships.

4. Participates actively and cooperatively on all assigned committees and task forces.

5. Design effective data models through utilization of appropriate BI tools and applying best practices.

6. Define and create ETL processes using techniques and best practices to extract data from multiple sources, transform inconsistent data, cleanses data and load data into a target database.

7. Ensure data models support analytic needs and data information requirements.

8. Engineer dynamic, multi-source report packages using MS Reporting Services tools.

9. Collaborate with business users to assist them in defining reporting requirements, creating reports, performing ad hoc queries and providing accurate business answers.

10. Create and environment that provides information in the correct format (dashboard, report, tables, etc) using the appropriate tool that matches the expertise level of the end user.

11. Perform other work related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
a. Bachelors degree in IT/IS or equivalent experience
b. 5 plus years experience in Information Technology
c. Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal. Able to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization
d. Change management skills and experience
e. Strong collaboration skills
f. Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
g. Proficiency in creating multi-prompt reports with drill-through capabilities
h. Experience creating web based user queries using HTML5 and other web based tools
i. Experience in report, data base and query performance tuning
j. Solid understanding of relational databases and OLAP concepts
k. Solid experience and knowledge in designing and delivering business intelligence and/or data warehousing solutions
l. Strong data analysis skills
m. Detailed knowledge of data integration software vendors and the respective tools from a design and development standpoint
n. Minimum 3 years experience working in a Business Intelligence environment as an ETL Developer 
o. Exposure to other tools, Cognos, Informatica or Oracle is beneficial but not required
p. Minimum 2 years:
- building reports utilizing SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2005/2008
- designing/creating databases, stored procedures and views in SQL Server 2005/2008
- 2 years database-driven ASP/ASP.NET application development experience
q. Working knowledge of SQL Server Administration tools a plus
