Uniting in the fight against cancer

Step into Professor Christer Aakeröy’s chemistry lab. Counters are scattered with test tubes and beakers while students analyze their bubbling and crystallizing contents. Ask any student in the lab what they’re researching, and you may not understand every molecule or scientific description, but you can understand what puts a smile on their faces — the fact that they are studying to find a cure for cancer. Beneath the surface

Andrew “Andy” W. Neal, a first-year graduate student in geology at K-State, is able to delve into water quality issues thanks to the Anita Lehner Geology Scholarship, a scholarship established by Lehner through a planned gift. Read this story in Good for K-State Magazine.

 

Center for Basic Cancer Research

The Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research was organized in 1980 to encourage and support cancer-related research, training and outreach. Presently, 60 laboratories in multiple administrative units across campus perform relevant research, with the center providing funding for such things as equipment, travel to interact with investigators at other universities and research support.
