The Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research was organized in 1980 to encourage and support cancer-related research, training and outreach. Presently, 60 laboratories in multiple administrative units across campus perform relevant research, with the center providing funding for such things as equipment, travel to interact with investigators at other universities and research support.
