It is a campaign for all members of the campus community to participate in by supporting the areas of the university that are most dear to our hearts. It is an internal effort run by campus volunteers specifically focused on the participation of all employees, faculty and staff of the campus, Alumni Association, KSU Foundation and K-State Athletics.
As a member of the Kansas State University faculty and staff, we are uniquely aware of the need for additional investment in our programs, people and infrastructure. We also know that additional investment will pay significant dividends in terms of the student experience, the well-being of our university and our future. By participating in the All-University Campaign, we not only demonstrate our pride in and dedication to our university, we also send a powerful signal to those outside the university, such as legislators, corporations and foundations, alumni and friends. Our strong commitment will set a positive example.
As with universities across the nation, the funds that have traditionally supported higher education have been drastically reduced. In fact, last fiscal year, state appropriations only provided 25.4 percent of our total university budget. Private gifts are sought to make up the difference. Participation from faculty and staff by making a personal commitment is especially important. By participating in this campaign and by supporting areas we care about most — whether it is student scholarships, faculty and staff development, new programs or discretionary dollars — we demonstrate to others that we value this institution not just as our employer, but as an important contributor to society.
Yes, by documenting a legitimate non-reimbursed expense, you can receive credit for participation. Complete the contribution form by checking the box in the right hand corner that states “Document a gift of personal expense or gift of service” and fill out the back of the form. Tax credit will be issued if the gift qualifies within the standards defined in the IRS guidelines.
Our goal is participation. Every gift is important! The All-University Campaign shows the power of each individual. One person’s gift adds to another’s, and another’s, and together, our gifts add up to a significant amount. But most of all it demonstrates to the alumni and friends who have invested on our behalf that we share their commitment.
To facilitate the process of acknowledging philanthropic gifts, each dean receives a weekly report listing all donors to their constituency. Once you give, your name will appear on this list.
Every gift, like every person who participates, is important. You decide what you want to support. Check out our designation guide for a list of suggested funds, or explore giving options through our online giving form, which is hosted through Wildcat Connection, K-State’s online community for alumni and friends.
Individual annual gifts are not assessed a fee for administration. However, there are specific situations where fees apply. For example: Processing fees charged by the credit card companies are passed on to the donor by reducing the gift by the amount charged (typically in the range of 2.5 percent). When a donor makes a gift to establish a fund, these gifts are subject to the distribution policy set by a committee which is comprised of deans and members of the KSU Foundation Board of Trustees and reviewed annually.
You may contact the development professional who works specifically with your work group or check the box in the bottom right hand corner of the contribution form that says “Establish a fund” and the appropriate person will be in touch with you.
There are a number of charitable gift opportunities that will allow you to do just that. An experienced development professional is available to provide information about all of the choices available and answer questions or provide illustrations to help you achieve your goal.
Yes, it is important to document your bequest to Kansas State University with the KSU Foundation. The process is simple and provides the opportunity for you to establish the impact that you want your gift to have. Not only does this provide assurance that your gift is administered as you intended, but it allows the university to plan for the future. Donor information can be kept confidential if you so desire.
